Field Trips and Bird Walks

Western Cuyahoga Audubon Society hosts various monthly birding activities, including, Second Saturday Bird Walks, Field Trips, the Annual Audubon Spring Bird Walks, Christmas Bird Count-Lakewood Circle Walks, and other seasonal bird walks. Birding reports are created by walk leaders that describe the location, weather, number of participating birders, and bird species and number of species. Beautiful photographs of birds, birders, and habitat are contributed by participants and are included in report documentation. Go to the News Blog for trip and walk details, registration, and reports.

Second Saturday Bird Walks

Western Cuyahoga Audubon hosts walks on the second Saturday of each month. Walks start at 9:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the Rocky River Nature Center, 24000 Valley Parkway, North Olmsted, Ohio. Check the Western Cuyahoga Audubon Calendar for details. New to birding? Grab some binoculars and join us. You will be amazed how fast you can learn to find birds by sight and sound. Western Cuyahoga Audubon Society invites birders of all skill levels to our "Second Saturday" bird walk. This is a great opportunity to see the birds of the Rocky River Important Bird Area. 89th Audubon Spring Bird Walks April & May 2022

Description: Birders have participated in Annual Audubon Spring Bird Walks since 1932. ​​Watch spring migrants return or travel through to their summer breeding grounds. Walks take place Sundays, mid April 14 – mid May 19, 2022 at 7:30am and are led by experienced birders in Cuyahoga County and surrounding locations. Audubon Spring Bird Walks are co-sponsored by Cleveland Metroparks, The Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland, The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Geauga Park District, Lake Metroparks, Huntington Reservation at Lake Erie Nature and Science Center, the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes and Western Cuyahoga Audubon Society.   • Hinckley Reservation, State Rd., Hinckley, Ohio 
  • Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation-CanalWay Station Visitor Center, Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio
  • The Rocky River Nature Center, North Olmsted, Ohio
  • Brecksville Reservation-Station Road Bridge Trailhead, Brecksville, Ohio
For all birders, this is a wonderful opportunity to sample the waves of birds moving through some of the top birding spots around Cleveland. New birders, be sure to be out on each of these six Sundays. It is a great way to start birding.

Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland conducts these walks in cooperation with the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, local park districts and the Holden Arboretum.
