Description: Join us for our 4th Annual Birds of Lake Erie Day! Join Wildlife Rehabilitation Specialist and resident birding expert Tim Jasinski for a 7 a.m. birding hike through Huntington Reservation in search for spring migrants. Afterward, meet back at the Center for an animal presentation, a planetarium show about light pollution and a wildlife rehabilitation report including an update on Cleveland’s Lights Out initiative.
7:00 a.m. Early Birds
Get out on the trails with Tim Jasinski and explore Huntington Reservations for spring migrants. Tim will lead the group throughout Huntington Reservation and share some of his favorite birding spots with you.
Post hike activities for adult birding enthusiasts. Whether you joined the morning hike or not we have great programming for you, including a live bird release. Birders buy your bird band to attend adult program or support our wildlife rehabilitation program.
Adult Birding lineup (ages 10 and up)
9:30 a.m. Join the birders as they wrap up the morning hike with a review of the days bird list and a release of a wild bird from the life rehabilitation program.
9:45 a.m. Join us for In the Dark, a dome show in the planetarium and hear all about the Center’s involvement in an effort to save migratory birds impacted by light pollution through our wildlife rehabilitation efforts
10:15 a.m. Live animal program- Native Raptors
11:00 a.m. Avian Wildlife Rehabilitation- Join expert rehabilitation staff and learn all about what it takes to care for and treat injured birds at the Center. Get an overview of last year’s successes and struggles including an update
10:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Bird Fun for Everyone (Designed for families of all ages)
Bring the family out for a fun morning of activities. Meet our resident birds with a live raptor program, create your own flying Eagle, and visit our local friends on a short hike. You can even fly in to your favorite planetarium show.
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Bird related activities and animal encounters will be taking place in GRRN throughout the day.
