Leader: Tammy Martin
Results: 8 Birders, 14 Species
Eight hardy birders braved early rain to observe 10 species at Huntington Beach, from the water tower (ice cream stand) overlooking the beach. Wind and wave action made it hard to hear birds, but Red-breasted Mergansers were easy to see flying west low over the lake. Loons, grebes and goldeneye fished close to shore. Three birders continued on to Cahoon Memorial Park, rewarded with three species of scoter. The field trip finished at Bradstreet's Landing, where spectacular breaking waves had Ring-billed gulls sheltering on a protected beach. Thanks to Tammy Martin, who filled in as leader.
