Description: Pine Tree Picnic Area is in a large wooded block of the Lorain Metro Parks French Creek Reservation. Trails loop past ravines above French Creek. The woods have a generous understory. Eastern Bluebirds greeted birders at the entrance to the picnic areas. A Ruby-throated Hummingbird sunned itself on a high bare branch, easily viewed by the group. Near the end of the walk, a birder spotted a Barred Owl close to the trail, seen perched, then flying. Singing Cedar Waxwings and Chipping Sparrows accompanied as birders compiled the bird list.
