Guardians of Nature Meeting Notes
October 29, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.
Attendees: Bruce Missig, Betsey O'Hagan, Nancy Howell, Janelle Reardon, Chris Mentrek.
I welcomed everyone.
Volunteer Opportunity: Please Join.
Since Nancy was the one who had programming events for the Christmas Bird Count, she started the meeting. She shared the outline and how it has changed from face 2 face to virtual.
There were three main points:
1. A pre-event will be held online to encourage participation as well as marketing on social media and mailchimp. Please forward far and wide.
2. CBC Day December 27th. An online gathering where people will report their sightings of the day and share experience. Unfortunately, no food. Bring your own dessert and beverage.
3. Post-event meetup on line. Nancy will share the compilation of the CBC Bird checklist with us.
We discussed the possibility of a junior membership for young people.
I suggested 7 to 18. It was decided that splitting into two groups would be advantageous.
Ticketing: Individual programs
$5.00 non-members $3.00 members
At some point, we may decide on ticket series (one topic, 3 or more sessions)
***Teens. Bruce suggested that the teen group should help formulate the topics, the time frame of when and how often, the more they invest in creating the group the more invested they will be.
We decided that the younger group should have a survey that parents and they filled out.
How many participants are needed to launch: minimum 6 and maximum 20 (20 would probably need two moderators)
Here are the questions that Nancy had asked for more information and clarification:
Please look it over and add your comments so we can discuss at our next Guardians of Nature meeting.
Gloria asked everyone to promote WCAS programming on FB, Twitter, and Instagram
