Description: The weather was excellent this second Saturday of the month bird walk for August 2021. It started at 70 degrees and finished at 79 degrees. It was sunny with a nice breeze. 23 observers tallied 44 species. We had the usual birds during the 3 hour walk. We had an unusual flyover of three Double-crested Cormorants. There were several large groups of Blackbird flyovers. We estimated about 20 Common Grackles, about 20 Red-winged Blackbirds, several Cowbirds a few Starlings and many more that could not be identified. Two Pileated Woodpeckers were observed. My best highlights were our resident Barred Owl perched high in a pine tree and a Broad-winged Hawk soaring overhead. - Report by Bill Deininger.
