WCAS Field Trips 2020
#1 Event: Virtual Field Trip November 2020
Dates: November 1- 30, 2020
Location: Richfield Heritage Preserve, 4374 Broadview Rd, Richfield, OH 44286 Map
Featured Bird Species: Woodpeckers (e.g., Red-bellied and Downy) and Nuthatches (e.g., White-breasted and Red-breasted)
Description: Richfield Heritage Preserve is open year-round from dawn until dusk and offers 336-acres of wooded trails at varying levels of difficulty, and even includes a section of the Buckeye Trail. The main entrance to Richfield Heritage Preserve is located at 4374 Broadview Road in Richfield, Ohio. Consult a park map before your visit.
Parking: If you wish to access the Buckeye Trail directly, park at the Oviatt Road gate, 3771 Oviatt Road in Richfield. Use the pedestrian gate. More parking information is at the Friends of Crowell Hilaka website.
Bird Walk Leader: Michelle Brosius, Director-at-Large and Field Trip Co-Coordinator, WCAS, invites birders to bird at a monthly designated field trip location and share stories to a public digital scrapbook.
How To Contribute to the Scrapbook: During visits, attendees are encouraged to take photographs, draw a picture or create art inspired by what is seen, tally identified species, write down thoughts, create a poem, a Haiku, questions or curiosities about the target species or anything encountered at the location, i.e., bird, plant, butterfly, etc., or anything to do with the experience of visiting the public space. Contributions will be published to the WCAudubon.org website and shared on social media.
#2 Follow Up Event: November Virtual Field Trip Community Meetup
Date: Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.
Location: WCAS Virtual Conference Center
Description: Field trip participants and the public are invited to meet fellow birders, ask questions, and share their experiences during their month of birding and journaling.
