WCAS FALL WARBLER CHALLENGE SERIES 2020
Event: Fall Warbler Identification
Presenter: Ryan Jacob, Staff Ornithologist, Black Swamp Bird Observatory (BSBO)
Day & Time: Thursday, September 10 at 7:00 to 8:30 PM
Description: With Western Cuyahoga Audubon’s Fall Warbler Challenge taking place during the months of September and October, WCAS is hosting a fall warbler identification event to help with some of those more “confusing” fall warblers. Ryan Jacob, ornithologist, naturalist and bird-bander with Black Swamp Bird Observatory, will discuss field marks and features to look for on fall warblers. Information presented will be useful for newer birders as well as seasoned birders, but not every species may be covered. Plan to attend and don’t forget to Register for the Fall Warbler Challenge.
Ryan Jacob is a native to northwest Ohio who discovered his passion for birds while working as a naturalist for the state park system. This passion quickly evolved into a focus on research and education. Ryan currently works with Black Swamp Bird Observatory as one of their primary bird banders, with an unabashed bias for warblers. With years of experience in the field and a penchant for teaching, Ryan is also a certified bird banding trainer through the North American Banding Council.
