Description: On a good day in January, the Cuyahoga River is a haven for waterfowl and gulls searching for open water.
Directions: Rivergate Park is at 1785 Merwin Ave. in Cleveland's Flats, by Merwin's Wharf restaurant. Since we are birding, not dining, please park in the area toward the skate park. It can be reached from the west side by taking I-71 to the W. 14th St. exit. Follow signs toward W. 14th St. Go around on traffic circle, staying on W. 14th St. Go left on Abbey Ave. Go right on Columbus Rd. Cross the bridge over the Cuyahoga River and make a quick left onto Merwin Ave. From east side, take the innerbelt to W. 14th St. exit. Follow W.14th St. around to Abbey Ave. Go left on Abbey Ave. At Columbus Rd. go right. Cross the bridge over the Cuyahoga River and make a quick left onto Merwin Ave.
